
First Nations Accord
The ICV had the great pleasure in signing an Accord to Recognise and Support the First Peoples of Australia, with the National Congress of Australia’s First Peoples.
ICV president Mohamed Mohideen and Jackie Huggins, Co-Chair of the Congress officially signed the Accord at the ICV Annual Dinner on Sunday 18th November 2018.
The Accord is an agreement by the ICV to support Congress as an organisation and also to support a set of key objectives and principles. These include promoting the domestic implementation of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples; the recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples in the Australian Constitution; the National Anti-Racism Strategy; and further partnership work as negotiated and agreed to by the two parties. The Accord will strengthen our relationship First Nations people and the Muslim communities.
