Supporting Regional Communities
The Muslim population in regional Victoria continues to grow, with communities establishing mosques, prayer spaces and organisations in towns across the state. The ICV works alongside communities to strengthen local Islamic organisations and keep regional Muslim voices connected to the wider Victorian community.
During Ramadan and Eid, the ICV shares prayer times and locations from mosques around Victoria on its social channels.
Working with regional communities
Support can include organisational guidance for communities establishing or developing mosques and prayer facilities, advocacy, and connection to the ICV’s statewide network. ICV representatives also travel to visit regional member societies — typically once or twice a year — strengthening relationships and hearing directly from regional communities. Activities have included the Annual Regional Iftar, hosted each year in collaboration with regional member societies, and strong regional participation in Victoria Mosque Open Day.
