Mosques Open to All
Victoria Mosque Open Day (VMOD) is a flagship annual event in which mosques across metropolitan and regional Victoria open their doors to Victorians of all backgrounds and faiths, with 30–40 mosques typically taking part each year — an invitation to visit, meet local Muslims and learn about Islam in a welcoming, respectful environment.
Each year, VMOD reminds Victorians that mosques are open year-round — the event celebrates an openness that extends to every day of the year, deepening interfaith understanding and strengthening a society grounded in mutual respect and shared humanity.
What to expect
Each participating mosque designs its own program. Activities may include guided tours, Islamic exhibitions, demonstrations of prayer and the Adhan (call to prayer), question-and-answer sessions with imams and community members, and cultural experiences such as Arabic calligraphy, henna art and plenty of food.
Taking part
VMOD is free and open to everyone — individuals, families, schools and community groups. It is held annually, with dates and participating mosques announced each year. Mosques and Islamic societies interested in taking part can contact the ICV.
