Youth Activities
Leadership & Opportunity for Young Muslims
The ICV works with young Muslims and student organisations through faith, leadership, civic engagement, education and community development initiatives — supporting the next generation to grow in confidence and contribute to their communities. Many of the ICV City Mosque’s regular activities — classes, Ramadan programs and community events — naturally cater to young people too.
ICV Youth Parliament
The ICV Youth Parliament brings young Muslims together for hands-on training in advocacy, leadership and the political process. Over the program, participants hear from parliamentarians, advocates and community leaders on Muslim involvement in public life, learn parliamentary procedure, and step into the shoes of legislators in a simulated sitting — drafting, debating and passing their own bill. Delivered in the heart of Melbourne’s civic institutions, the program equips participants with the skills and confidence to shape their community’s future. Program dates and applications are announced on the ICV’s website and social channels.
Students and universities
The ICV works closely with Muslim Student Associations across Victorian universities — convening MSA representatives, and amplifying student voices on the issues affecting them. The ICV also proudly sponsors an award at Human Appeal Australia’s annual Year 12 Muslim High Achievers Awards, celebrating Victorian students who achieve an ATAR of 90 or above.
Kids’ Qur’an Competition
Held each Ramadan, the annual Kids’ Qur’an Competition invites children up to 16 years of age to showcase their learning and recitation of the Holy Qur’an in age-based categories — a joyful tradition that nurtures faith, confidence and love of the Qur’an in the next generation.
Get involved
The best way to stay across youth programs, events and registrations is to follow the ICV on social media. University students and young people can also apply to volunteer with the ICV — including as Operations Support Volunteers contributing to the day-to-day running of the organisation.
